How to use
How the school works
Look, then start
You can look at the school with no account. The languages, the price, the books, and this page are open.
Sign in with Google, X, or email when you start a class. The seat and the sentences stay with that sign-in, so a new phone can open them. A different sign-in on the same phone does not inherit the last person’s record. An email account is its own seat. It does not join a Google or X seat.
The classroom menu changes the buttons. On the Russian course, a French classroom also puts the meaning under the sentence, the grammar note, the drill instructions, and the workbook into French. The lesson line stays in the language you are learning. The names at the bottom open that language’s page. They do not change the classroom.
A class
Pick a language on the home page. Hear the sentence. Say it. If it is wrong, the class stops you. Then say the same kind of sentence with your real name, family, or day, not the names on the page. A tap does not pass it.
The next sentence opens after the one before it. Sentences you already passed stay open for review.
Every language is twenty-four classes, from a greeting to a room where the decision costs something. Under the sentence are the drills that sentence needs. Hear the line, say it, then say it about your own life.
Free and paid
Free is ninety days on one language. The clock starts when you pass the first sentence, not when you open the site. The first sentence of the language you picked is open before that. When the days end, what you already said stays. The rest of that language closes until you pay. The other languages do not ride along on those days.
Paid is once. There is no monthly plan. Paying does not skip a sentence.
- $40 keeps the one language you have open, including the family room.
- $60 keeps every language.
- Already paid for one language, and it is the wrong one? Twenty dollars more opens every language. The first one stays. It is not a swap, and it is not a second login. The $20 button shows on the price page only after that first payment is on the account.
The card page is Stripe. The seat opens only after this school reads the receipt. A test card does not take real money and does not open a seat. The price is on the price page.
Offline, $16
Offline is its own payment. The $40 seat does not include it. The $60 seat does not include it. The ninety free days do not include it. Those days stay on the network.
After the $16 payment, You has a button to save the school on this phone. Then it opens with no network. The voice is the one already on the phone. Paying does not skip a sentence.
A friend's code
There is no gift box to check, and a purchase does not email a code.
The $40 button, the $60 button, and the $20 more button pay for the account that is signed in. They do not make a second login.
On You, after you sign in, the school makes a short code. Open that page once while you are signed in, so the code is on the account. A friend types it on the price page, then pays for a language. Real money counts once. A free coupon does not. Offline does not. Your own code does not. Five different people, and every language opens on your account. The price does not go down when they type the code.
If the streak app stopped helping
People start by searching for a free language app, or an app that teaches a language fast. Later the search changes. They want grammar, and they want to speak. They are done matching tiles and protecting a streak.
If you left Duolingo because the game stopped teaching you to talk, this school is the next step, and only that step. You hear a sentence. You say it. The school stops you if it is wrong. Then you say the same kind of sentence with your real name, family, or day. There is no streak. The grammar sits inside the sentence.
This is not a flashcard box, not a graded reader, and not a place to hire a tutor. Those are different tools. This one is the speaking. Russian, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Hindi, Arabic, and English. Ninety days on one language, starting when you pass the first sentence. Then one payment.
The rest
- Path, placement, and the desk are the Russian course map, a ten-question placement, and the writing from class. Sign in to open them.
- The lab is ten minutes of order, endings, and lines, drawn from classes you have unlocked.
- Friends is the same sentence said by someone who passed it. The words have to match the class line. A vote does not change the line.
- Family is private. Fill the pattern with real names. It stays with your progress. It is not a vote.
- You holds the name the class calls you, finished courses, reminders, the seat code, and notes you sent about a bug.
- Books is a shelf. You mark a book you already use. The school does not sell the book.
- A bug note does not need a sign-in. It stays on the phone. It is not an email. The list of notes is on You, which does need a sign-in.
- Reminders are at most a morning and an evening. The only reminder is yesterday’s line.
A new phone
Open the old phone once while you are signed in, so the sentences upload. Then sign in with the same Google, X, or email on the new phone. The code on You does not move a seat by itself. Offline still has to be paid and saved on the new phone. A save does not travel.
